FINDING THE LIGHT IN OUR HEARTS - A TANTRIC HEART OPENING mit Jeanne Heilemann

ackbends are considered some of the most exciting, adventurous and captivating parts of a yoga practice. They can also be scary and harmful when not practiced with awareness. Learning good alignment and how to do a pose safely is one aspect. Learning how to breathe into a backbend is another important aspect to ensure that your pose not only blooms beautifully, but that you can truly feel the opening in your heart.

This workshop will work on opening the heart, from the inside out. Through a flow practice that builds core heat for the muscles and joints, we will immediately start to apply breathing techniques to access the inner heart. As we start to open, we will go into deeper backbends on the outside, while also moving deeper with our breath and Tantric visualizations on the inside. A special Tantric heart opening meditation will close the workshop.

Jeanne Heileman (www.jeanneheileman.com) has been practicing yoga since 1985 in Los Angeles, Chicago, London and San Francisco. She did her first teacher training in 1996 in Los Angeles at the Center for Yoga with Diana Beardsley. She completed her second teacher training with Rod Stryker in ParaYoga and continues to study with him. She took her third training with YogaWorks under Lisa Walford and immediately joined their Teacher Training Faculty. She has traveled in India twice, studying Tantra with Pandit Rajmani Tigunait and studying Flow plus Ayurveda with Shiva Rea. Jeanne blends her teaching from her studies with Desiree Rumbaugh, John Friend, Erich Shiffman, Kofi Busia, Judith Lasater, Gary Kraftsow, Shiva Rea, and Rod Stryker; creating a union of styles and philosophies. Her classes are usually strong, with clear instruction, and set in a playful environment focused to discover a deeper meaning to one’s practice. Jeanne often includes the yogic practices of pranayama, mantra, and meditation within a flowing asana class. She has been teaching at yoga studios and privately throughout Los Angeles since 1996. For three years she was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California, teaching yoga in the School of Theatre. Currently she teaches teacher trainings and workshops nationally and internationally.
